Just days before the San Francisco 49ers' play in the NFC Championship game, 49ers' defensive lineman Charles Omenihu was arrested on domestic violence charges.
According to San Jose police, officers were called to the 300 block of Santana Row at around 4:40 p.m. when a woman stated that her boyfriend, Omenihu, had pushed her to the ground during an altercation.
"Officers did not observe any visible physical injuries to the survivor, she did however have a complaint of pain to her arm," investigators said. The woman also declined medical attention at the time.
Omenihu, according to the police, was present, gave a statement, and cooperated with the investigation.
On the basis of the victim's statement and her complaints of pain, officers arrested Omenihu for misdemeanor domestic violence, according to the police.
The 25-year-old was taken into custody and then released on bond from the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office will be informed of the case, according to the police, to consider filing charges.
