Jamaal F. Brown is being hailed a hero after suffering third-degree burns to help get strangers out of a apartment building after it caught fire in Union City. Brown was passing by when he noticed the fire and jumped into action banging on residents doors to get them out of the complex. One of the residents said:
"That man got third-degree burns saving the whole building."
Her 10-year-old son was emotional as he said he was afraid when he ran out ahead of his mother, worrying she wouldn't make it out.
"I was looking for my mom, I saw she was back there and it was burnt up," he said. "I was just crying because I was scared that she might not make it out."
His mother stated that if it weren't for Brown's help, she isn't sure she would have made it out.

On 7/29/21 Jamaal has suffered 3rd Degree Burns and a Broken Arm due to Helping Families From a Burning Fire. Jamaal noticed there was a Fire burning at a nearby apartment building. He immediately rushed over to the Burning Building to Alert the other Residents of the situation.
As he was leaving the Top Floor when the Roof of the Building (while burning in flames) fell on top of him causing to burn 40% of his body. Today Jamaal lays in Grady Hospital (burn unit) in hopes of recovery. Jamaal is a Single Father of 3 younger children (7yo-3yo) who were all home at the time. .
