Jam Master Jay Murderers Finally Being Held Accountable

Two men have been convicted in the murder of Run-DMC member Jam Master Jay, more than 20 years after his death. An anonymous jury in Brooklyn found Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Washington guilty of killing the hip hop icon in 2002. Both men are facing a minimum of 20 years to life in prison or the death penalty. “It’s no mystery why it took years to indict and arrest the defendants,” the top federal prosecutor in Brooklyn, Breon Peace, shared following Tuesday’s verdict. Breon claimed key witnesses “were terrified that they would be retaliated against if they cooperated with law enforcement.” The two men were reportedly close to Jay. Jordan was his godson, and Washington was apparently an old friend who was staying at Jay’s sister’s home at the time of the shooting. They both pleaded not guilty, and their lawyers asked the judge to set aside the verdict and acquit them.
