Since the untimely death of basketball Icon Kobe Bryant, NBA players and fans have called upon the Association to change the logo's silhouette from Jerry West to Kobe Bryant. Many players have voiced their opinions, but Kyrie Irving of The Brooklyn Nets has been leading the charge. In a recent interview with ESPN, he said, "We want to set a standard and precedent, like this is the excellence of Kobe Bryant. Logo. Yes. It needs to happen. I don't care what anyone says." Current NBA logo silhouette/ LA Lakers Owner, Jerry West said in a 2017 interview, "I think if I were the NBA, I would be embarrassed about it. I don't like to do anything to call attention to myself. If they would want to change it, I wish they would. In many ways, I wish they would." The NBA has not received any backlash for the request to change the logo, so what is the hesitation? I would love to see Kobe as the new silhouette of the league. He absolutely dominated the game when he was alive.
