After recent criticism over their former brand name, Uncle Ben's, the Mars Inc. parent company decided to rename the brand due to it's racist meaning. Instead of "Uncle Ben's", the boxed rice new name will be "Ben's Original". Hollywood Unlocked reported, "Furthermore, Mars has announced that they will also partner with the National Urban League and donate $2 million to a scholarship fund for aspiring Black chefs. An additional $2.5 million will go to educational programs and food access efforts within the community of Greenville, Mississippi — where the products have been manufactured for four decades." Sometimes I can't believe I'm seeing big company walking back their racist past. I love it. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
