Congratulation to Taraji P. Henson! Earlier today Taraji gave a very moving speech to the Congressional Black Caucus on Capital Hill in Washington D.C. about Mental Heath and the suicide rate in the black community. Wow, I never knew she was a substitute teacher before moving to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. While being a substitute teacher, Taraji experienced young black males being called special ed. because of their lack of ability to focus. In reality, these young men were dealing with homelessness, hunger, and parents abusing drugs. In response to her experience, later on in life she started the "Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation" named in honor of her father who dealt with mental health after serving in Vietnam. I'm so proud of what Taraji is doing for the black community.
