Black History Facts: Black Panther 1st Black Superhero in US Comics

The Black Panther's real name is T'Challa, king and protector of the fictional African nation called Wakanda. Black Panther is the first superhero of African descent in mainstream American comics debuting in 1961 in Issue #52 of the Fantastic Four.  He was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and writer-artist Jack Kirby and received his own Comic Book in 1973. In 2018 the interest in Black Panther reached an all-time high with the release of his first Live Action Film "Marvel's Black Panther" which broke records at the box office.
