Minister Melvin L. Hood is a native of Chicago. Equipped with God-given gifts and a special anointing, he has encouraged the hearts of many and compelled the lost to Jesus through the ministry of radio. While living in Chicago, Minister Hood was motivated and inspired by Rev. Milton Bronson's gospel radio show “Gospel Sound” in the 70s.

The pursuit of Minister Melvin Hood’s vision began in 1980, when the late Rev. Johnny Jackson gave him his first break on WAWA. Since then, the Lord has directed Minister Hood to work for many Milwaukee radio stations such as WNOV, WAWA, WYLO, and WMCS. Program Director Nate Bell heard Min. Hood's gospel show while traveling in his car and wanted it on his station, which gave Min. Hood a break on FM Radio V100.7. With a proposal in his hand, a concept and the love of the lord in his heart, Melvin Hood pursued his dream to bring to Milwaukee "Music With A Message": thus the birth of the Gospel Show Love & Devotion on V100.7.

Currently, Melvin continues to build his radio ministry through V100.7, where thousands of listeners tune in to have their spirits uplifted, their souls renewed, and their hurts healed. Love & Devotion has become the highest rated Gospel program in the City of Milwaukee. Working with these various stations, Minister Hood was able to raise money to help establishments like the American Cancer Society, in 1990 Minister Melvin Hood Radio Anniversary featuring two Fred Hammond concerts where the proceeds went towards the building of the new DLH Academy School, a fund raiser for Douglas Middle School featuring a Gospel Concert with Byron Cage, The SOP Chorale, three Feed The Children campaign with World Vision as well as other Holiday Food drives in the Milwaukee area.

Some of Minister Hood's awards and achievements: Letter of Achievement in Gospel Music from Milwaukee's Mayor Henry W. Meyer in 1985; 2 outstanding CYD Image Excellence Awards for 1989 and 2006 for Community Service; a plaque in appreciation for the Burger King & Milwaukee/Sentinel Gospel Choir Competition in 1995; the 2009 Stellar Awards nomination for being WKKV-V100.7 Radio Station of The Year Large Market finalist; and the 2014 Servant Leadership Award from the Abundant Group Entertainment Company to name a few.
