Poet Maya Angelou Becomes First Black Woman To Appear on US Quarter.


Maya Angelou has become the first black woman to be on the United States quarter. Ms.Angelou was known for her poetic prowess with famous works such as, 'I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings' and 'And Still I Rise'. Before her passing in 2014 at the age of 86, she was awarded The Medal of Freedom in 2010 by the president of the United States. Now, being the first black woman to be printed on a US quarter, her impactful work will forever be Implemented into United States History.
