Black Star achieved a "career milestone" after they made their grand debut on Saturday Night Live.

On Saturday, November 12, Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def) hit the stage at Studio 8H during the latest episode of SNL. The show's host, Dave Chappelle, introduced the iconic duo by referring to them as "Brooklyn's finest rappers." Black Star belted out to new tracks “The Main Thing Is To Keep The Main Thing The Main Thing” and “So Be It,” which appears on their newest album No Fear of Time. During their performance, Talib and Yasiin brought out seasoned producer Madlib, who crafted each beat on the album.

Black Star's performance occurred six months after the duo released their first album together in 24 years. No Fear of Time contains 10 new songs from the seasoned MCs featuring collaborations with Black Thought and singer Yummy Bingham. They released it exclusively through Luminary, which also hosts the duo's podcast with Chappelle The Midnight Miracle.

Their performance happened after Dave Chappelle made his long-awaited appearance on SNL. Chappelle opened the show by speaking his thoughts on Kanye West and Kyrie Irving's antisemitism controversy. He also expressed his opinions about Drink Champs, the results of the midterm elections and Donald Trump's affect on the GOP.

"Kanye's gotten into some scrapes before," Chappelle said during his opening monologue. "Normally when he's in trouble, I pull up immediately, but this time I was like, 'You know what? Let me see what's going to happen first.'"
