Rihanna's father may have given her her last name, but that didn't stop her from suing him for using it without her permission.

According to TMZ, Rih Rih is suing her dad, Ronald Fenty, for using her Fenty brand and his relationship to her to launch his own businesses. In lawsuit documents, obtained by the gossip site, Rihanna claims that Ronald "recently started a talent development company in 2017 called Fenty Entertainment." Now, he's where things get tricky. Rihanna has already trademarked "Fenty," and uses the name for a number of her business ventures (anyone ever heard of a little thing called Fenty Beauty? Or Savage x Fenty?).

The "Lemon" singer claims her dad is now profiting off of the reputation she's created with Fenty. Not only that, but Rihanna alleged in the docs that "her father and a business partner falsely advertised themselves as her reps to solicit millions of dollars, including trying to book her for 15 shows in Latin America in December 2017 for $15 [million], all without her authorization." Rih Rih's troubles with her father don't end there. He also reportedly tried to file his own trademark for "Fenty" to use with resort boutique hotels. So, after he ignored multiple cease and desist letters, ordering him to stop capitalizing off her Fenty trademark, Rihanna is now asking a judge to place an injunction on her father's use of the name Fenty. She's also asking for him to pay damages.

As fans know, this isn't the first time Rihanna's family has tried to take advantage of their close ties to the singer. In 2017, Rihanna's uncle Leroy Fitzgerald Brathwaite was reportedly caught selling knock-off versions of Rihanna's clothing line for Puma, Fenty x Puma. According to Caribbean 360, it was the 30-year-old singer who first noticed the counterfeit items being sold at a local store during a trip back to her home country of Barbados that May. She reportedly first reported the incident to Puma, who lodged a police complaint. However, shortly after the investigation began they found that Rihanna's uncle was behind the counterfeits.
