Dr. Marie M Daly
(1921–2003)
Was Born in Queens, NY and became a Chemist whose work and research help explain how the human body works. She was the first African American woman to gain her Ph.D in Chemistry when she graduated from Columbia in 1947. Prior to making history she had already been awarded her B.S. and M.S. in chemistry at Queens College and New York University.
