The holidays are a time for celebration, family and gift giving but let’s be honest, for some, it’s been hard to make ends meet, let alone cash out on extensive Christmas lists for their kids. Also, not to mention that this year was riddled with numerous lives being lost to gun violence in the city. So what may be a joyous time for some, others are grieving the absence of their loved ones.
Pastor Radontae Ashford and his beautiful wife, welcomed us to the Infinite Church to get our game plan in order, pray and show acknowledgment for those whose lives were cut short from guns.
Outside awaited 2 party busses for the city’s influencers which included: Zebbra Kake, the MT Twins, Blakc Schife, fellow radio personality Promise, DJ Mando, Comedian Tez, DJ Sixteen, Miss Juneteenth and many more. Juaniee_gc (ig) played Santa and was hilarious. Along side the party busses were Uhauls filled with gift bags, food, bikes and big screen tvs. This year, it was made a point to also give out journals to help with mental health and gun locks in hopes of preventing deaths caused by kids getting to firearms in their homes.
Every year, a different, unsuspecting neighborhood is chosen and this year was Berryland. As we pulled up, everyone began blowing their horns and the kids excitedly ran out to the uhauls. Being from a city that often comes off as cold, it’s an unexplainable feeling of joy and fulfillment to be mob deep with other selfless individuals and see the excitement on the kid’s faces as we shower them with gifts. It’s something like a movie.
Thank you to the countless efforts and people who made this event possible. Vaun does a lot for the city and does an amazing job with this event every year.
