Black Twitter might not have been feeling the debut of the new Boondocks, but a lot of people were watching.
According to Deadline, the animated show's season debut on Adult Swim set series records in several key demos, including adults 18-to-49, where it was up 50 percent from the show's average last season. The show also beat NBC's The Voice and TNT's NBA Playoffs in the 18-to-34 demo.
But despite the strong ratings, many fans complained on Twitter that the show lacked its signature edge without the contributions of creator Aaron McGruder. Many also felt the plotline, clear inspired by the Chris Brown saga, was played out as well.
TeeRoy's 2 Cents:
- Think those numbers will hold up for the second show?
- Maybe all those people who tuned in won't really get the hype and tune back out.
- Does this justify the executives' decision to let McGruder go? Or will he get the last laugh?
