Forget about Kendrick Lamar -- Sean "Diddy" Combs is looking to be the real King of New York. According to the New York Post, Diddy is set to star in a re-make of the 1990 cult classic, with Oscar winner Brian Grazer set to direct.
The original starred Christopher Walken, Laurence Fishburne and Wesley Snipes, and centers on a former drug lord who, upon his release from jail, tries to build a hospital in the ghetto with his drug profits. Grazer says, "Our version won’t be exactly the same, but will have the same hard-core gangster feel. Sean wants to be in it -- he was amazing inMonster’s Ball, and such strong characters sit perfectly with him.”
MY 2 CENTS:
- Walken's character in the original was "Frank White," which is where The Notorious B.I.G. got his moniker.
- They need to bring back Wesley for the re-make.
- If this film does well, Diddy will truly own the King of New York title.
