2014 has been a big year for the ladies of hip-hop. First Iggy Azalea broke records with two songs on the Billboard charts, and now Nicki Minaj has reached her own milestones.
Thanks to "Anaconda," the Queens femcee has become the first woman to have a number-one solo single on the iTunes chart. And Young Money HQ points out that if you include her feature on Jessie J and Ariana Grande’s “Bang Bang,” Nicki is also the first female rapper to have two singles in the top two spots on iTunes simultaneously.
TeeRoy's 2 cents:
- Nicki Minaj: holding it down or selling out?
- We need to get all the ladies on a track together. A modern day "Ladies Night."
- "Anaconda" probably isn't even her best song, but she has star-power at this point, and that sells almost as well.
- Somewhere, Lil' Kim is saying that if the iTunes chart existed 15 years ago, she'd have all these records.
