STUDY: EATING BACON LOWERS SPERM QUALITY: Men trying to become fathers might want to refrain from eating too much bacon, with a study from Harvard researchers finding that it can significantly lower sperm quality, Medical Daily reported. The scientists gathered data from 156 men undergoing in vitro fertilization with a partner, with each couple having been asked questions about their diet. They found that men who ate more than half a portion of processed meats such as bacon each day had significantly lower levels of normal sperm compared to men who ate less than half a portion daily. They also found that some foods, like fish, seemed to increase sperm quality. Some health professionals have expressed some skepticism about the study, however, questioning how sperm quality was measured and noting that the study included a small sample size of men.
