Eminem is proving why he's a "rap god."  At Sunday's inaugural YouTube Music Awards, the rapper picked up the award for Artist of the Year.  Afterward, he thanked his fans for helping him earn the honor.

Eminem wasn't the only hip-hop act to come up with a win at the awards ceremony, which was held at New York City's Pier 36.  Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - who were up for awards in four categories - added to their trophy collection by winning the award for YouTube Breakthrough.

Apart from mainstream hip-hop artists, the awards ceremony also honored YouTube sensation DeStorm Power for Innovation of the Year.  In his acceptance speech, DeStorm said the YouTube Award was more meaningful to him than any other award he's ever received.

Eminem was also on hand to provide the night's musical entertainment.  Em closed out the ceremony with a performance of his single "Rap God."

Earlier in the night, Earl Sweatshirt and Tyler the Creator also took the stage for a performance of their song "Sasquatch."
